Soneike High Celebrates Heritage Day in Style

September 16th, 2024, will be etched in the memories of Soneike High School learners and staff for years to come. The Media Club's inaugural Heritage Day celebration, themed "For Us, By Us," was a resounding success, showcasing the school's vibrant cultural diversity.

The event, attended by half the school, primarily seniors, was a kaleidoscope of color, unity, and pride. The Media Club members, dressed in their finest cultural attire, set the tone for an unforgettable day.

The school choir, under the expert direction of Miss Buys, and expertly supported by Miss James and Mr. Adams, delivered a rousing rendition of the school song, followed by a soul-stirring cultural piece that left the audience mesmerized.

Their outstanding performance was a testament to the dedication and hard work of the entire music department.

Mr. Mabaso's traditional song and dance performance was a highlight of the event, showcasing his exceptional vocal talent and captivating stage presence. His energetic dance moves, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of traditional instruments, had the audience clapping along in delight.

A highlight of the event was the "Heritage Harmony" poetry segment, where learners took to the stage to recite poems in various languages, including isiXhosa, Sesotho, Afrikaans, and English. The powerful delivery of each poem, seamlessly transitioning from one culture to another, left the audience in awe.

Learners took center stage as MCs, DJs, and event organizers, demonstrating their capabilities and confidence. The cultural Expo was the pièce de résistance, featuring stunning traditional clothing, captivating dance performances, and a true display of South African heritage.
